I am the silhouette
I am the unread book
Letters and words within me
Arranged in such a way
This narrative keeps the readers eyes fixed
To the words that I say
Evoking an array of emotions
From the first page to the last
Keep you from putting me down
Chapter to paragraph
Heroes and heroines
Acting out in fictional arenas
Facts and figures educate
And quench lifes thinkers and dreamers
The feel of my page on your fingers
The scent that lies within
They judge me on my appearance
Before the first chapter even begins
So I remain on the shelf
Slowly gathering dust
Nowadays they rarely look beyond my cover

Breaking Point
Breaking Point:
Who was I to question you to start?
My reflection now we split apart.
Hate the way your looking at my pain;
I hid my tears in the falling rain.
Forget the way I thought I used to be
I see the man now he isn't me.
He's like a ghost with a shaken past
I don't know how he's gonna last.
Sometimes I feel like I'm giving in
I hit the bottle full of naked sin.
I try to lose the hell I'm living in
But now I'm stuck with my only friend.
I spent nights on the window pane
Look at families playin' family games
Wonder why I'm stickin' outside;
I'm just a monster on the inside...
What happened to the dream I used to feel?

The Poet
The Poet:
He smiles as he sees her sleeping
& gently covers her with a blanket.
He goes to the window and looks out
watching snow fall, ever so slowly...
He sees people in the streets,
Chatting, walking. Some happy,
Others sad. Hearts beating,
Hearts broken; some warm, some cold.
He looks back at her, as she stirs in bed.
A yawn from her, brings another smile to him:
"How cute," he chuckles as he strokes her head.
He runs his fingers through her hair and is content.
Yet, even if he is happy here, again -
He is drawn to that window and finds himself
Staring out at the street and watching;
Marveling at the disparity and wonderin

Blue Eyes
Blue Eyes:
A man once told me that blue eyes were best
So I decided I would put these words to a test.
I ran across the globe and found a blue eyed fish
It tasted very tasty when served as a dish
I then went to Ireland to find a blue eyed gnome
Instead I got a Lephrechaun whose name was 'Jerome'
I used him as bait to catch some blue eyed mice
I suppose he now regrets that he lost at dice...
I then used the mice to catch a blue eyed cat
I then used the cat to catch a blue eyed dog
I then used the dog to catch a blue eyed witch
I think I left that one down in a ditch...
In any case...
I returned back home to my quaint boulevard

this is a really beautiful poem
and -I'm not sure if you ment it that way, but-
it makes me think about the life we've never lived
you know how we give up our dreams,
as they're too much effort
and leave them like an unread book filled with forgotten possibilities
btw sorry if I read too much into this
